Welcome to South Wind Oncology Associates
We would like your experience to be a positive one. To help ensure this, we like to take the guess work and surprises out of the equation. This page will help us both to be prepared for your visit.
Second Opinions, Should I get one? Information click here
It is very important to us that you are truly comfortable and confident with your healthcare provider and the environment in which you will be receiving treatment.
We encourage our patients, should they request a second opinion. We are willing to make arrangements at any of the major specialty institutions. Examples would be MD Anderson, Mayo Clinic, Sloan Kettering, University of Nebraska, UCLA, Duke University, or whichever institute specializes in your individual type of cancer diagnosis.
Do you accept my insurance?
South Wind Oncology is a participating provider with:

WE DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN ANY MEDICARE PART C PLANS (OTHERWISE KNOWN AS
MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS)
Medicare Advantage Plans (“Part C”), like HMOs and PPOs,
Medicare Advantage Plans include Medicare Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Plans, Medicare Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Plans, Medicare Private Fee-for-Service Plans (PFFS), Medicare Special Needs Plans (SNPs), and Medicare Medical Savings Account (MSA) Plans.
South Wind Oncology does not participate in Part C or what we like to call Medicare disadvantage plans for those living and undergoing treatment for cancer. We encourage patients to carefully look at these plans as their is greater out of pocket expense to the patient undergoing treatment. Our patients that have been on these plans have gone back to the standard Medicare with Supplemental coverage. Monthly premiums may be lower however the out of pocket expenses for Treatment are much higher and must be paid at time of service. For patients undergoing treatment you may have as much as $1000 a month or more that has to be paid.

What if I am OUT OF NETWORK?
If we are out of network with your insurance provider, we are able, on occasion, to come to an agreement with some insurance carriers. We cannot guarantee this will be the case in every instance. Please check with your insurance carrier.
South Wind Oncology Associates has the only full time on site Medical Oncology Specialist for 200 miles. Inform your insurance carrier of this and many times they will make concessions.
